Sword construction tilbury docks power station 17000m3
Heard today that the job has been given to a local independent not because of price because apparently the prices between us and them was very close ,but because of our cancellation charges ,part load charges, and waiting time.
isn’t it about time somebody look at these cancellation charges and realise that we are losing so much work because of these charges and driving customer after customer away that very soon we wont have any customers left.
these charges are just not working and costing every owner driver.whilst i realise that this post will probably be looked at and be classed as (just another driver moaning) i can assure you that this is far from the truth, this owner driver is actually wondering what direction cemex are heading in and whether we can actually win any large scale work with the additional charges that cemex keep applying.

Hi Mark,
It is encouraging to note that the Communication between the IHC Community and the Commercial Team continues but to reply to your comments I can confirm that the Commercial Offering to the Customer / project was similar until Friday afternoon when the Customer obtained a revision. Cancellation Charges were not actually part of the discussion and were accepted by the Customer prior to Friday. As you know the supplier that has secured this contract is on a 1 radial, 2 max, compared to Cemex on a 10/11 radial so the revision became favorable to the Customer. As you are aware we have direct costs including Haulage which we need to recover. I do not view your post as another driver moaning as you are aware from previous conversations but felt the facts needed explaining hence my reply. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask and I can assure you Cemex are securing larger contracts with full Terms and Conditions of Sale being recovered both at Cluster and UK level.
Thanks

hi
I work in Rotherham and although you may not have lost this particular job due to part loads/cancellation fees/waiting time we have in our area and I am sure the trend is the same in most areas.
we have expressed our concerns from day 1 and was told it would work and the customers would still use us but that is not the case,i realise the reasons behind having these charges but feel they were forced upon customers with size 12 boots and a lot of smaller users have stopped using us because they use 6+ 12+ ect and cannot pass on the £52 a metre part load(or fresh air to you and me)to their customers.
I have given our sales and production managers a way to charge customers without having part load charges by loading all cost/profit/haulage on the first metre and then having a fixed cost per metre thereafter, everyone wins cemex get there full volume profit everytime a load goes out regardless of amount and the customer gets NO PART LOAD CHARGES I repeat NO PART LOAD CHARGES,pass on cancellation costs when cemex incur costs as sometimes its only the o/d that’s lost out and be a bit more realistic with waiting time and hay presto customers will start using us again I know as I have asked them!!!

is there any point in putting your comments on this forum?it seems to me that if you sing the companies praises then there is no end of people commenting on it but as soon as you put something on that is a bit controversial there is deadly silence, just a thought
