my 8m mcphee is 4 years 3 months old. It has been based at a wet batch plant, but the blades are now so thin that you can bend them by hand, and hear them banging as they flex with anything less than an s3 load. The previous 2 lorries I owned never reached this stage until at least 6 years of age, and based at dry batch plants mainly. The spring chute hook broke in half the other day, and I have seen other lorries have to have the chute support arm reinforced as it has pulled away from the main frame. All the 8m mixer chassis I have seen are cracked, rewelded , and cracked again at just behind the pto support plate. All at extra cost to the driver. McCrap, or Cemex spec? Does anyone know of a firm other than APD (in Birmingham area) that repairs blades? London area based preferably?
